The Instrumental Fund entrusts Stefan-Peter Greiner’s instruments to the Magenta Quartet

For several months, the Magenta Quartet has been performing on a string quartet commissioned by the Instrumental Fund of Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot and crafted by luthier Stefan-Peter Greiner.

Funded through auction proceeds and the generosity of patrons, the two violins, viola, and cello were conceived as a single, unified ensemble, sharing the same approach to craftsmanship, design, and sound. The backs of the instruments were carved from a single maple tree, ensuring an exceptional level of tonal coherence.

Founded in 2021 and based in Paris, the Magenta Quartet brings together four musicians known for their vibrant energy and their open, engaging approach to performance, fostering a close dialogue with audiences. Selected following the April 2025 auditions, they will perform at the Abbey of Saint-Vivant on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Instrumental fund

A remarkable initiative that pays tribute to the Burgundy vineyards.

This fund provides support to young musicians who do not yet have the financial means to acquire a high-quality instrument.

From the very inception of the festival, Bernard Hervet and Daniel Weissmann, encouraged by Aubert de Villaine, were committed to supporting young artists who lacked access to fine instruments. They thus founded the Instrumental Fund of Musique & Vin at Clos Vougeot, mostly financed by the charity auction.

This exceptional initiative honors the prestigious Burgundy vineyards through the creation of string instruments, each named after one of the thirty-three Grands Crus.
Examples include the Günter Siefert 2014 violin, “Corton Charlemagne”, the Patrick Robin 2012 cello, “La Tâche”, and the Claude Macabrey 2013 viola, “Montrachet”.

Each instrument also bears a vintage label, “Musique & Vin at Clos Vougeot”. Today, the fund includes more than 29 violins, violas, and cellos and is further enriched by instruments generously loaned by private owners.

The violin crafted by Samuel Zygmuntowicz
is on loan to Adriana Bec

On November 18, the Instrumental Fund loaded a new instrument to a promising young musician.

The violin, crafted in 2021 by renowned luthier Samuel Zygmuntowicz, has been entrusted to Adriana Bec, a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

A significant milestone in Adriana’s musical journey, captured here alongside Charles Hervet and Jonathan Freeman Attwood.
