Instrumental fund

A remarkable initiative that pays tribute to the Burgundy vineyards.

This fund provides support to young musicians who do not yet have the financial means to acquire a high-quality instrument.

From the very inception of the festival, Bernard Hervet and Daniel Weissmann, encouraged by Aubert de Villaine, were committed to supporting young artists who lacked access to fine instruments. They thus founded the Instrumental Fund of Musique & Vin at Clos Vougeot, entirely financed by the charity auction.

This exceptional initiative honors the prestigious Burgundy vineyards through the creation of string instruments, each named after one of the thirty-three Grands Crus.
Examples include the Günter Siefert 2014 violin, “Corton Charlemagne”, the Patrick Robin 2012 cello, “La Tâche”, and the Claude Macabrey 2013 viola, “Montrachet”.

Each instrument also bears a vintage label, “Musique & Vin at Clos Vougeot”. Today, the fund includes more than 20 violins, violas, and cellos and is further enriched by instruments generously loaned by private owners.

New Instrument loan
for the Instrumental Fund

On November 18, the Instrumental Fund loaded a new instrument to a promising young musician.

The violin, crafted in 2021 by renowned luthier Samuel Zygmuntowicz, has been entrusted to Adriana Bec, a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

A significant milestone in Adriana’s musical journey, captured here alongside Charles Hervet and Jonathan Freeman Attwood.

A look back at the hearings on April 1, 2025

18 young musicians performed at the Couvent des Cordeliers in Beaune to compete for an instrument from the Fonds Instrumental of Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot. After remarkable performances and intense deliberations, 17 of them were selected.

They were able to talk to luthiers Antoine Gonon and Charles Cocquet and test out their new instruments, a valuable support for their musical careers. A unique springboard for these promising talents!
